A promotional increase in odds above the standard market price — offered by bookmakers to attract bets on specific selections.
Price boosts (also called enhanced odds or odds boosts) are temporary promotional prices above the standard market odds. A bookmaker might offer Arsenal to win at 4.0 when the standard market is 3.20. The enhancement creates genuine short-term value — the implied probability at the boosted price is lower than the true probability.
Bookmakers use price boosts for specific marketing goals: promoting new markets, driving volume on popular matches, or competing for customers. The boost is usually limited to a maximum stake (e.g. £5–£25) to cap their promotional exposure.
To evaluate a price boost, calculate the fair odds for the selection using your model or the de-vigged implied probability from Pinnacle. If the boosted odds exceed the fair odds, the boost has positive expected value and you should max stake it. If the standard market price is already inflated, a boost may simply bring a bad bet to break-even.
Systematically tracking all available price boosts across bookmakers and betting only on those with positive expected value (boosted odds > fair odds) is a legitimate and scalable edge strategy — particularly when combined with an exchange lay to lock in the profit.
Value Betting
Betting at odds that are higher than the true probability of the outcome — finding bets where the bookmaker has underestimated the chances of an event.
Implied Probability
The probability of an outcome embedded in bookmaker odds — calculated by dividing 1 by the decimal odds.
Expected Value (EV)
The average outcome of a bet over a large number of repetitions — positive EV means the bet profits long-term; negative EV means it loses.
Overround (Vig / Juice)
The bookmaker's built-in profit margin — the amount by which the implied probabilities of all outcomes in a market sum to more than 100%.
Matched Betting
A technique that uses back and lay bets to extract guaranteed profit from bookmaker free bet and sign-up promotions.
