A projection of the FPL bonus points a player is likely to receive based on their Bonus Points System (BPS) score from actions in a match.
FPL awards 3, 2, and 1 bonus points to the top three BPS scorers in each match. BPS is calculated from a range of in-match actions: goals, assists, key passes, shots on target, successful dribbles, tackles, clearances, and others. The exact weighting of each action is not fully published by FPL, but has been reverse-engineered from historical data.
The three highest BPS scorers in each match receive 3, 2, and 1 bonus points respectively. Bonus points are not awarded if no player reaches a minimum BPS threshold. Ties in BPS are split by giving both players the higher bonus — ties for 3rd are split with both receiving 1 bonus point.
Players who contribute multiple distinct actions in a single match accumulate the highest BPS scores: a striker who scores, assists, and wins aerial duels; a midfielder who scores and makes several key passes; a goalkeeper who keeps a clean sheet and makes multiple saves. Central players at high-possession teams tend to generate more BPS-qualifying actions per game.
Identifying consistent bonus point earners — particularly in popular positions — significantly increases projected points per game. A midfielder averaging 1.5 bonus points per game adds approximately 57 points to their season total before accounting for goals and assists.
