An FPL efficiency metric dividing total points by player cost in millions, measuring value for money rather than raw point-scoring.
Points Per Million (PPM) is calculated by dividing a player's total FPL points by their current price in millions. A £12.5m forward with 180 points has a PPM of 14.4. A £5.0m midfielder with 100 points has a PPM of 20.0. Despite far fewer raw points, the £5m player is delivering significantly better value per unit cost.
PPM is most useful for identifying differential budget options who outperform their price. Premium assets often have lower PPM than bang-for-value mid-tier players, meaning premium squads must rely on captain points to compensate for the higher base price.
PPM is a retrospective metric — it measures value that has already been delivered, not future value. A player who scores a hat-trick in week 1 then blanks for 10 weeks will have strong early-season PPM that quickly decays. For future planning, expected points per gameweek (based on form, fixture, and role) is more actionable than historical PPM.
Differential (Fantasy)
A fantasy football player owned by a small percentage of squads — selecting them when they perform well gives a significant advantage over rivals.
FPL Template
The set of players owned by a high percentage of top-ranked FPL managers — forming the baseline squad from which differentiation is measured.
Captaincy
The FPL designation that doubles a selected player's points for the gameweek — the single most important decision in FPL each week.
Form Over Fixture
An FPL strategy that prioritises players in strong recent form over those with favourable upcoming fixtures, based on the principle that form is more predictive than fixture difficulty.
