The percentage of attempted take-ons (dribbles past an opponent) that a player completes successfully.
Dribble success rate is the proportion of attempted take-ons (moments where a player attempts to dribble past an opponent with the ball at their feet) that result in the player successfully getting past the defender. A player who attempts 5 take-ons per game and completes 4 of them has an 80% dribble success rate.
Dribble success rate is a measure of individual technical quality — the ability to beat opponents one-on-one. It is one of the few purely skill-based statistics in football where individual repeatability is genuinely high: elite dribblers like Mané, Sané, or Mbappé maintain consistently high take-on success rates across seasons and clubs.
Volume matters alongside rate. A player attempting 8 take-ons per 90 with 65% success is adding more value through dribbling than a player attempting 2 per 90 with 85% success. The combination of high volume and high success generates the most attacking threat — these players constantly create numerical mismatches.
In fantasy football, elite dribblers are attractive assets because their actions directly generate shots and crosses — they draw fouls (penalties), create space for others to score (assists), and generate their own shooting opportunities. For FPL, high dribble volume from midfielders and forwards often predicts high bonus points as well as goals and assists.
Carry Distance
The total distance a player moves the ball forward with their feet — a measure of ball-carrying ability and progressive dribbling.
Progressive Passes
Passes that move the ball significantly closer to the opponent's goal — a key indicator of a team's attacking play style.
xA (Expected Assists)
A metric that measures the probability that a pass or cross will result in a goal, weighting each assist opportunity by the xG of the resulting shot.
xG (Expected Goals)
A metric that scores every shot by its probability of resulting in a goal, based on factors like shot location, angle, and assist type.
