The two offensive actions directly leading to a shot — passes, dribbles, drawn fouls or shot rebounds — credited to the players involved.
A Shot-Creating Action counts the last two offensive actions before a shot: passes (live or dead ball), take-ons, drawn fouls, and even a shot that rebounds to a team-mate. Both contributors are credited, so a give-and-go before a shot can generate two SCAs.
SCA is broader than assists because it counts the shot that was created whether or not it was scored — capturing creativity that a low finishing run would otherwise hide.
SCA counts actions leading to any shot; GCA (Goal-Creating Actions) restricts it to the actions leading to a goal. SCA is the higher-volume, more stable creativity signal; GCA is the rarer, outcome-based one.
Per-90 SCA is a strong scouting metric for wingers and creative midfielders whose end product is streaky.
