A single bet combining multiple selections, where every leg must win — the odds multiply, and so does the risk.
A parlay (British: accumulator or "acca") rolls several selections into one wager. The combined odds are the product of each leg’s odds, so returns grow fast — but every single leg must win for the bet to pay out.
Four evens (2.00) legs combine to 16.00: a £10 stake returns £160. Miss one leg and the whole bet loses.
Because each leg carries the bookmaker’s vig, stacking legs multiplies the margin against you — parlays are high-variance and generally lower expected value than singles.
A pushed or voided leg drops out and the parlay recalculates on the remaining legs.
Vigorish (Vig / Juice)
The bookmaker’s built-in margin — the reason the implied probabilities of a market add up to more than 100%.
Push
A bet that ties — the outcome lands exactly on the line — so the stake is returned with no win or loss.
Value Bet
A bet where the odds offered by the bookmaker are higher than the true probability of the outcome, giving you a positive expected value over the long run.
Bet Settlement
The process of determining whether a bet won, lost, was voided or pushed once the event finishes — and paying out accordingly.
