In FPL, the share of active teams that gain from a player once captaincy is counted — often above 100% for popular captains.
Effective Ownership adds up raw ownership plus extra weighting for every manager who captained (or triple-captained) a player, since a captain scores double. A player owned by 40% and captained by 30% has an EO around 70%+.
It tells you how exposed the field is to a player’s score — the true measure of template risk, not headline ownership.
If a very high-EO player hauls and you don’t own them, you lose rank even while scoring well; if they blank, you gain rank by fading them. EO is how you reason about rank rather than raw points.
Differentials are low-EO picks: little to lose if they fail, big rank swings if they deliver.
xGI (Expected Goal Involvements)
A player’s expected goals plus expected assists combined — the single best proxy for total attacking output, widely used in FPL.
Price Drop
In FPL, an overnight fall in a player’s price when enough managers sell them — the opposite of a price rise, and a hit to team value.
Dead Team
In fantasy, a real-world team with nothing left to play for — motivation and rotation risk make its players unreliable picks.
