In FPL, an overnight fall in a player’s price when enough managers sell them — the opposite of a price rise, and a hit to team value.
FPL adjusts player prices based on net transfers: heavy selling triggers a price drop of £0.1m, heavy buying a rise. Drops usually process overnight and are capped to one change per day.
Selling before a drop protects your team value; getting caught holding a falling player, or buying just before a drop, erodes the budget you can reinvest.
Chasing every price change is rarely worth a points hit, but avoiding obvious drops on players you were selling anyway is free value. Monitor transfer trends near deadlines.
Team value only matters as future buying power — never take a bad transfer just to dodge a £0.1m drop.
Effective Ownership (EO)
In FPL, the share of active teams that gain from a player once captaincy is counted — often above 100% for popular captains.
Dead Team
In fantasy, a real-world team with nothing left to play for — motivation and rotation risk make its players unreliable picks.
xGI (Expected Goal Involvements)
A player’s expected goals plus expected assists combined — the single best proxy for total attacking output, widely used in FPL.
