The trophy awarded by Spanish newspaper Marca to La Liga’s top scorer each season — and, colloquially, the top-scorer race itself.
The Pichichi is named after Rafael Moreno "Pichichi", an Athletic Bilbao forward of the 1910s–20s. Marca has awarded it to the leading La Liga goalscorer since 1952–53.
By extension, "the Pichichi race" is shorthand for the battle to finish as La Liga’s top scorer, much as the "Golden Boot" is used elsewhere.
It goes to the player with the most league goals; Marca’s historical tie-break rules have varied but generally favour fewer appearances or head-to-head goals.
KiqIQ’s league pages show the live top-scorer table for La Liga and other competitions, so you can follow the race in real time.
