Désiré Doué: PSG's Versatile Forward Who Can Play Anywhere Across the Front Three

Doué's older brother Guéla also came through Rennes' academy; the family pipeline is part of why Stade Rennais protected Désiré from earlier transfer interest. He made his Ligue 1 debut in September 2022 at 17 and finished the 2023-24 season with 6 league goals and 5 assists, drawing scout interest from Bayern Munich, Manchester United and PSG.

The PSG move closed in July 2024. Reported fee was €50m + €10m in add-ons, the highest French Ligue 1-to-Ligue 1 transfer fee for a teenager since Kylian Mbappé's Monaco-to-PSG deal in 2017. Luis Enrique used the transfer to remodel PSG's front line around younger, faster forwards after Mbappé's departure to Real Madrid the same summer.

Doué's defining trait is genuine three-position fluency. Under Luis Enrique's 4-3-3 he has started matches at left wing, right wing and central forward across the same season, often switching mid-match. Bradley Barcola, Ousmane Dembélé and Gonçalo Ramos rotate around him.

France manager Didier Deschamps capped Doué at senior level in September 2024, deploying him initially from the bench. His role for France remains less defined than at club level — Deschamps' preferred front three around Mbappé and Antoine Griezmann does not have an obvious shape change to include Doué as a regular starter. The medium-term route is more likely as the post-Griezmann central creator.
